SC clears way for Khaleda violence case proceedings

February 28, 2018 00:00:00

The Appellate Division of THE Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed a High Court order that had stayed the proceeding of a violence case filed in Comilla, against 78 BNP leaders and activists including its Chairperson Khaleda Zia, reports UNB.

Appellate Division chamber Judge Hasan Foyez Siddique passed the order after hearing a leave-to-appeal petition filed by the Attorney General Mahbubey Alam.

The court also set March 29 to hear the appeal on a regular bench of Appellate Division, said the Attorney General.

According to the case statement, seven people were killed and 20 others were injured on February 3 in 2015, as a bus was torched in Chauddagram upazila of Comilla on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway during the non-stop blockade programme enforced by the BNP-led alliance.
