Six projects get cabinet body nod

Cabinet Purchase Committee approved on Sunday a total of six proposals including a tender proposal for 400 MW gas-fired Bibiyana South combined cycle power plant, reports UNB.

With Finance Minister AMA Muhith in the chair, the cabinet body meeting gave its nod to the proposals. A number of senior cabinet ministers attended the meeting.

A joint venture consortium of Isolux Ingenieria SA of Spain and Samsung C&T Corporation of South Korea won the construction works of the Bibiyana South power plant project through a tender proposal of Tk 22.39 billion.

As per the proposal of the Power Division, the consortium will do the job as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor of the project.

The contractor will build the combined cycle plant within 900 days and a simple cycle within 720 days from the signing of the contract.

Another Power Division proposal for overhauling contract of the Unit 5 of the Ghorasal Power Station received the nod of the cabinet body. A Russian firm will do the job.

The cabinet body approved an NBR proposal for online filing of tax return and establishment of taxpayers' information and service centre. A Vietnamese firm won the contract of Tk 513.1 million for the project.
