April 29, 2018 00:00:00

MEHERPUR, April 28 (BSS): Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan said Tarique Rahman, acting chairperson of BNP, has given a ' Muchleka' (undertaking) to the British Government that he would not to do politics.

"Tarqiue has gone abroad for treatment and deposited the Bangladeshi passport along with an undertaking to the authorities of that country," the minister told newsmen here this morning.

But, the minister said, Tarique Rahman is leading a political party from Britain which is very unfair and unethical.

Expressing his optimism to bring Tarique Rahman back, Khan said the trial of the cases against him would be completed as early as possible.

Replying to a query, the minister disclosed that the government has a plan to set up a land port at Meherpur to expand businesses and create employment opportunities. "A feasibility study is underway for that purpose," he added.
