Leaders of Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Malik-Sramik Oikya League (BSPMSOL) urged on Tuesday the government to stop disorder, corruption and harassment by police on roads, reports UNB.

They made the call while speaking at the launching of BSPMSOL at the National Press Club in the city.

SM Shah Alam, convener of the organisation, said the BSPMSOL has been formed to prevent disorder, corruption and ensure security of owners and workers on roads.

"Police sergeants harass them in the pretext of checking vehicle documents and driving licenses," he said.

BSPMSOL member secretary Md Ismail Hossain Bachhu demanded withdrawal of 'false cases' filed against transport owners and workers.

He also demanded that rest houses be arranged for labourers at every bus and truck terminal and mobile hospitals set up for labourers injured in road accidents.

Welcoming the BSPMSOL, Prime Minister's Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, said he will assist the organisation.

"I hope you all will play roles to stop extortion and disorder in the transport sector," he said.
