USAID administrator Green due today to meet Rohingyas

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green arrives in Dhaka today (Monday) to see the current Rohingya situation, reports UNB.

The USAID Administrator will visit Rohingya camp tomorrow (Tuesday).

He will be making a major announcement on Tuesday at the USAID- funded WFP Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program facility at the Balukhali Rohingya Camp in Cox's Bazar.

Green will also visit Myanmar and Thailand until May 23.

USAID Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator for Asia Gloria Steele and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration Ambassador Mark Storella will accompany Administrator Green as part of the delegation, said the US Embassy in Dhaka.

While in Bangladesh and Myanmar, Administrator Green plans to visit several sites where the US government is providing humanitarian assistance to displaced Rohingya and affected host communities.

He will also meet government officials of Bangladesh.

In Myanmar, the Administrator will meet civil-society representatives, students, and youth leaders, as well as Government of Burma officials to discuss steps needed to address the crises in Rakhine State and violence in other areas of the country.
