The High Court (HC) ordered the authorities concerned on Wednesday to inform it by July 30 about the steps taken for ensuring security for judges, lawyers and employees in courts across the country, report agencies.

The top court also asked what actions have been taken against those who were in charge of providing security in Cumilla court where an accused was stabbed to death in an open courtroom by another accused on July 15.

The HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order after holding hearing on a writ filed in this regard.

"An untoward incident took place in Supreme Court even on July 16. What steps you have taken to ensure security for judges, lawyers and court officials," the court asked during the hearing.

Deputy Attorney General Abdullah-Al-Mahmud Bashar in reply said both the incidents, one in Cumilla and another in Supreme Court, took place because of personal enmity.

The court at that moment said whether it is personal or not how can one can get entry into court with knife?

"Definitely it is a case of negligence," it said.
