89 new godowns in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Sept 12 (BSS): The food department constructed 89 more godowns at a cost of Tk 2.30 billion, increasing the storage capacity of 1,13,500 tonnes in Rajshahi division during the last couple of years.
The department has also repaired and renovated some other existing food godowns with an estimated cost of Tk 500 million.
With the construction of new godowns, its total number stood at 512 in the division, enhancing the storage capacity to 4,01,950 tonnes at present, said Md Muniruzzaman, regional controller of food.
"We purchased 3.2 million tonnes of rice, 0.32 million tonnes of paddy and 0.39 million tonnes of wheat at a total cost of around Tk 111.35 billion during last nine and half years," he added.
