Thursday, 11 October 2018

The BNP will stage protests today (Thursday) and bring out a black-flag procession on Sunday to condemn the jailing of its acting chief Tarique Rahman in the 2004 grenade attack, reports bdnews24.com.
A Dhaka court on Wednesday sentenced Tarique to life in prison for plotting to assassinate Sheikh Hasina when she was in opposition.
The special court also gave the death penalty to several other members of the BNP.
BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programmes at a media briefing after the verdict came out on Wednesday.
"There will be protests across the country against the 'dictated' verdict on the Aug 21 grenade attack case," he said.
Rizvi announced a five-day programme for the BNP and its front organisations.
The BNP's student wing Chhatra Dal will stage protests on October 13, Jubo Dal on October 14 and Shechchhasebak Dal on October 15.
Mohila Dal and Shramik Dal will form human chains on October 17 and October 18 respectively.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir rejected the verdict on the August 21 grenade attack case in a press briefing at the BNP central office, prior to the announcement of the protests.
