BNP wants credible DUCSU election, says Nazrul

Tuesday, 12 February 2019

BNP said on Monday it does not want the elections to Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) to be held the way the national and local body ones were held, reports UNB.
"We don't want the Ducsu elections to be held like the national and local body polls. It's a big challenge (for Dhaka University authorities)," said BNP senior leader Nazrul Islam Khan.
He further said, "There's a reason to be worried over the Ducsu polls as the university authorities have been appointed by the government. But we hope the students will put in their all-out efforts to ensure credible elections in their institution."
The BNP leader came up with the comment while talking to reporters after placing wreaths at BNP founder Ziaur Rahman's grave along with the newly-formed convening committee members of Doctors' Association of Bangladesh (DAB).
Nazrul, a BNP standing committee member, thinks the battle of ballot in the Ducsu elections will be held between the pro-democratic and anti-democratic forces. "I hope, the pro-democratic forces will surely come out successful in the polls."
