Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has expressed deep shock and condolences over the loss of lives in Friday's shooting incidents at two mosques in New Zealand.
In a message sent to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of New Zealand Winston Peters on Friday, Dr Momen requested the government of New Zealand to take all possible measures for the safety of Bangladesh diaspora there.
The minister also assured him of standing by the people and the government of New Zealand at this tragic hour.
"We are deeply shocked and saddened to learn about the tragic shooting incidents causing heavy casualties, including lives of persons of Bangladesh origin," read the message.
Dr Momen has also strongly condemned the gruesome and barbaric attacks on the innocent people at the places of worship, says a statement issued by the foreign ministry.
