'Eviction drives against illegal establishments on riverbanks to continue'

Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Haque Shameem Thursday said eviction drives against illegal establishment on riverbanks will continue, reports BSS.
"Water Resources Ministry, Shipping Ministry and other concerned offices are jointly conducting the drives to evict illegal establishments on the banks of the Buriganga and Karnaphuli rivers," he told a rally on the Jatiya Press Club premises in the city. 'Bangladesh Nodi Bachao Andolon' arranged the rally with its central president Professor Anwar Sadat in the chair.
Organisation's vice-president freedom fighter Md Bachchu Miah, general secretary Advocate Md Anwar Hossain, joint international affairs secretary Monir Munshi, Janakantho Group executive director Md Nazrul Islam, spoke on the occasion, among others.
Shameem, also an Awami League organising secretary, said the water resources ministry is working to prevent waterlogging crisis across the country as the monsoon is approaching.
