Foreign channels affecting children

Thursday, 10 October 2019

Many of the young boys and girls have now been obsessed with watching foreign television channels, and they are becoming fond of cultures which are alien. The children are getting isolated from their family. They sometimes keep on changing channels when their parents want to watch something else. The seniors are embarrassed by some scenes that are conflicting with Bangladeshi culture. The TV local channels have failed to connect to the audience of new generations. Some youth consider programmes broadcasted by local channels as boring, since they have options to search for another channel. Guardians, too, fail to recommend watching international news channels and the ones showing documentaries. The new generation has the scope to learn foreign language but that hardly happens. Our local channels are yet to come up with programmes that offer learning experience for youngsters.
