IsDB to continue role in BD's economic uplift

President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Dr Bandar MH Hajjar said the strong role of his bank would continue in the coming days towards the transformation of Bangladesh into a higher tier, reports BSS.
The IsDB President said this when Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal met him at Marrakech in Morocco on Friday on the sidelines of the 44th annual meeting of IsDB, said a Finance Ministry press release received on Saturday.
During the meeting, the IsDB President recalled his recent visit to Bangladesh where he saw an unbelievably speedy Bangladesh economy.
He also lauded the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Mentioning that Bangladesh is going through a transformation, Hajjar said the economy of Bangladesh is going to a new improved tier from one tier and for this Bangladesh may require more resources.
He informed the Finance Minister that the proposal of some physical infrastructure projects of Bangladesh including expansion of railway network are under active consideration of the IsDB and once the scrutiny is completed, necessary measures would be taken in this connection.
Meanwhile, the Finance Minister attended the 44th Board of Governors meeting of the IsDB held at Marrakech.
Under the auspices of the Kingdom of Morocco, the theme of this year's meeting is "Transforming in a fast changing world: A road to SDGs".
The meeting highlighted the need for attaining the SDGs by the IsDB member countries by 2030.
Apart from participating in various sessions of Board of Governors meeting, the Finance Minister also met the Chair of the Governors Meeting and also Moroccan Economy and Finance Minister Mohamed Benchaaboun.
During the meeting, they discussed issues related to bilateral interests including boosting economical and commercial cooperation.
Kamal apprised his Moroccan counterpart about the progress achieved by Bangladesh in all economic indexes over the last 10 years.
