FE Report | Thursday, 16 May 2019

The leaders of Bangladesh Trade Union Kendra demanded on Wednesday payment of wages and festival allowances to the workers of garment and jute mills factories before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
They said that the government had been silent despite repeated calls made by the workers to meet their demand.
They also called upon the government to take an initiative so that the owners of the factories and industries could pay wages and festival allowances to the workers before the upcoming religious festival.
They were speaking at a rally in front of the National Press Club in the city.
They also urged the government to implement the report of the wage commission and meet other rational demands.
President of BTUK Shahidullah Chowdhury presided over the event which was also addressed by its general secretary Dr Wazedul Islam Khan and organising secretary Abdul Malek and publicity secretary Abdur Razzaque.
