Two new ministers likely to take oath tomorrow
Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam said on Thursday one minister and a state minister will take oath on Saturday. He said this while talking to reporters after a press briefing on DCs' Conference at the secretariat. Asked whether State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed will be made a full minister and Awami League Women Affairs Secretary Fazilutunnesa Indira a state minister, the Cabinet Secretary responded positively. — UNB

Rail link with Rajshahi remains suspended
RAJSHAHI, July 11: Train communications between Rajshahi and other parts of the country remained suspended for 18 hours following derailment of nine wagons of an oil-carrying train at Haldiagachhi in Charghat upazila on Wednesday evening. Three of the wagons were removed on Thursday morning while operation to salvage the other tankers is going on. The authorities concerned have cancelled the schedule of all trains for Thursday morning. — UNB

DCs’ conference begins Sunday
The five-day annual conference of the deputy commissioners (DCs) will be held in the capital from July 14 to 18. The inauguration will be held at Shapla Hall at the Prime Minister's Office at 9.00am, Cabinet Secretary Md Shafiul Alam told a press briefing on Thursday. A view exchange meeting will be held with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the first day of the conference. — UNB
