No formalin in fruits in Khulna: BSTI

KHULNA, July 11 (BSS): Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) found presence of no formalin in their examination in fruit samples at different fruit shops and stalls in the city last month.
A press release of the BSTI said they conducted raids in different fruit stalls in the city and collected 12 samples of different fruits including apple, grape, multa, guava and orange.
"But, in the examination we found presence of no formalin in the fruits," BSTI Director Abdul Mannan said.
However, the mobile court filed thirteen cases against different establishments and organisation and fined Tk 0.115 million (Tk 1,15,000) for selling adulterated foods and not using digital weighing machines.
The mobile court conducted the drives at seven shops including departmental stores, water and ice cream factories.
The anti-food adulteration drives will continue, the release said.
