‘People of all faiths living in country peacefully’

NOAKHALI, July 14 (BSS): Fisheries and Livestock Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda said on Saturday Bangladesh is a land of communal harmony as the people of all faiths are living in the country peacefully for a long time.
"We want to build a non-communal Bangladesh in line with the spirit of the Liberation War," he told the inaugural function of Ratha Yatra at Choumuhani under Begumganj upazila of the district.
Vice-Chancellor of Noakhali Science and Technology University Prof Dr M Ahiduzzaman, representatives of local government bodies and leaders of Noakhali district unit of Awami League (AL), among others, addressed the function.
Chanda said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman liberated Bangladesh from the Pakistani occupation forces to build an economically prosperous non-communal Bangladesh.
He urged all levels of people to extend their cooperation to materialise the dream of Bangabandhu for building a "Sonar Bangla".
Later, the minister inaugurated the Ratha Yatra in Ramganj upazila of Laxmipur district.
Chairman of the Laxmipur District Council Mohammad Shahjahan, Chairman of Ramganj upazila parishad AKM Ruhul Amin, chairman of Ramganj upazila unit of AL Shafiq Mahmud Pintu, among others, were present at the function.
