President assents to three bills

President Abdul Hamid on Thursday assented to three bills passed in the budget session of the 11th parliament, reports UNB.
The bills are Animal Welfare Bill-2019, Bangladesh Veterinary Council Bill-2019 and Law and Order Disruption (Speedy Trial) (Amendment) Bill, 2019, said a Parliament Secretariat handout.
On July 9, The Law and Order Disruption (Speedy Trial) (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was passed in Parliament for extending its validity till 2024.
The duration of the Law and Order Disruption (Speedy Trial) Act, 2002 expired in April 2019. So, its validity has been extended by five years. No change has been brought in the content of the law.
The Animal Welfare Bill 2019 was passed in Parliament July 7, aiming to stop cruelty towards animals and defining the duties of their owners.
Parliament also passed Bangladesh Veterinary Council Bill, 2019 the same day to maintain the professional standard of veterinary practitioners and extend quality healthcare services for fighting animal diseases.
