Road mishaps kill four in two districts

DINAJPUR, June 11 (BSS): Two women were killed in a road accident in Vaduria Bazar area on the Dinajpur-Gobindganj Highway under Nawabganj upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Amena Begum, 67, and her daughter-in-law Shahida Begum, 55, of Bagunbari village under Ghoraghat upazila.
Police said the accident occurred when a speedy truck crushed Amena and Shahida under its wheels in the area around 11 am as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving them dead on the spot.
Meanwhile, in Chandpur, two people were killed and three others injured critically in a road accident at Ghosher Hat on the Chandpur-Cumilla Regional Highway on Tuesday.
The accident took place this morning when a Dhaka-bound bus of Padma Express Company collided head-on with a CNG run auto rickshaw, police said.
Accounts officer of Social Islami Bank Gazipur branch Emran Hossain, 35, died on the spot while his niece Fatema, 10, succumbed to injuries on way to hospital in Dhaka. They were coming Dhaka from Hajiganj by the auto rickshaw.
Two of the injured persons were identified as Ratan Shil, 30, son of Dr Bhasan Chandra Shil of Subidpur Union of Faridgonj Upazila and Jewel Hossain, 35.
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Chandpur Sadar Hospital Sujauddowla Rubel said the injured persons critical. They were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after giving primary treatment, he said.
