‘Robber’ dies in Kishoreganj ‘gunfight’

KISHOREGANJ, Jan 11 (UNB): A suspected robber was killed in an alleged gunfight with police in Ujanchar Beelpar area of Bajitpur upazila in the early of Friday.
Police identified the deceased as Arshaf Uddin (30), son of Bachchu Mia, from Bhairab upazila's Manikdi area. He was accused in several robbery cases.
A police team raided Beelpar around 2:30am after being tipped-off that a drug deal was taking place there, said Md Shariful Islam, additional superintendent of Kishoreganj police.
"Our team came under fire as soon as it reached the spot," he said. "At one stage of the gunfight, Arshaf was killed."
Police recovered a shotgun, 100 Yaba pills, 15 phensedyl bottles and five bullets from the spot, Shariful added.
