First anniv of ICE celebrated

The First anniversary of Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (ICE) Center was celebrated on Wednesday in the auditorium of Center for Advanced Research in Arts and Social Science (CARASS) on Dhaka University (DU) campus.
The celebration started with the motto "Journey towards Innovation-Driven Entrepreneurial Bangladesh" and will continue with workshops, ICE talk, discussions, ICE cafe and some other activities till September 19.
DU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman chaired the session while National Prof. Dr. Anisuzzaman attended it as the chief guest, and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Atiur Rahman and Prof. Dr. Khandakar Bazlul Haque, Vice Chairman of ICE were the special guests.
The programme was moderated by the Executive Director of ICE and Associate Professor of Faculty of Business studies of DU, Md Rashedur Rahman.
The director of CARASS, Prof. Dr. Abdul Bashir, Prof. Dr. Abdul Moyeen and other distinguished teachers of DU and industry representatives were also present in programme. Around 200 students from various departments of Dhaka University attended this session.
VC Akhtaruzzaman, along with other distinguished guests, inaugurated the anniversary celebration of ICE by cutting a cake.
Dr. Akhtaruzzaman, in his welcome speech, emphasized the individual importance of Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship and importance of integrating these three together. He hoped that this center will lead the youth in this integrated approach for the country to excel with the advancing era.
Special guest Dr. Atiur Rahman said Innovation is necessary for continued excellence in economy that has been going on for the last 10 years in Bangladesh.
Therefore, he welcomed the approach of the Center and hoped for its best.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Moyeen in his remark mentioned that passion, clarity in purpose, hard work and patience are important for innovators and entrepreneurs.
Chief guest National Professor Dr Anisuzzaman inaugurated the official website of
and launched the interdisciplinary student platform of ICE, "Nobochari".
In the closing note, he said this Center has really shown its innovative thoughts. He also thinks that DU should be the birthplace of knowledge, and the activities of this Center are complementing this broader goal. He hoped that this Center will link the knowledge of university with the rest of the country.
Executive Director of ICE Md. Rashedur Rahman, while highlighting the importance of Innovation Driven Entrepreneurship in Bangladesh for country's development journey, discussed the four focus of the center-- "4Ps". i.e. Person (e.g. training, incubation, mentorship, network etc.); Programmes (e.g. Advocacy and awareness Programs), Policy and Research (e.g. in-depth action research and policy facilitation); and Platform (e.g. establishing interdisciplinary platform for different stakeholders including government, universities, industries, academia, students and others).
