Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) launched on Tuesday the Community Ambassador Programme to monitor its waste management, street lights, mosquito control, road renovation and other service activities, reports UNB.

Some 1,800 citizens across 75 wards under the DSCC will be working as the community ambassadors to help accomplish the work of the city corporation properly.

DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon inaugurated the programme at the Nagar Bhaban in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, "The situation won't change if I alone work as the mayor. Each and every citizen of DSCC must work taking up the role of a mayor."

He also mentioned that the authorities are keen to overcome the limitations of the city administration involving people in the activities. "We want to remove the weaknesses of the city authorities and involve every citizen in administering the city," he said.

Each DSCC ward has been divided into 4-5 units where seven volunteers will be inspecting and reporting to groups on the road condition, drainage system and other facilities in their respective areas.
