The securities regulator has asked the stock exchanges to collect quarterly report on their stock brokers' branch transactions and activities.

The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) delivered the order on Wednesday amending a clause of its directive issued in 2008.

As per the BSEC directive, stock exchange shall collect quarterly report within first week of the next month of each quarter on its stock brokers' branch transactions and activities.

And the exchange shall furnish a summary report thereon to the commission within seven days thereafter.

The previous directive reads, stock exchange shall collect a report within first week of the next month on its stock brokers' branch transactions and activities and shall furnish a summary report thereon to the commission within seven days thereafter.

Asked, an official of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) said they do not need to prepare monthly report as most of the information is available through automated system.

"Surveillance over the activities of stock brokers has been strengthened. That's why, quarterly report is enough to ensure the compliances of the stock brokers," said the DSE managing director.
