BSEC organises investors' confce in Dhaka today

The stock market regulator organises "Investors' & Entrepreneurs' Conference-2019" in Dhaka today (Thursday) to create awareness of investors about stock market investment.

The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) inaugurated the countrywide "Financial Literacy Programme" for the stock market investors in January 2017, since then training programs for investors of the capital markets are being held under short, middle and long-term basis.

The BSEC will also organise another investors' conference in Chittagong on March 30 (Saturday) at the International Conference Centre at Kazir Dewri area.

Md Mahbubul Alam, executive director of BSEC, disclosed the goals of arranging the conference under the investors' education programme at a press briefing held on Monday at its office in Dhaka.

Mr Alam said the investors' conference in Dhaka will be started at 10:30am at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) where the Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will remain present as chief guest.

The BSEC Chairman Prof. M Khairul Hossain will preside over the programee where BSEC commissioners, stock exchanges officials and stock market stakeholders will also be present.

Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, Deputy Minister for Education, will be present as chief guest at the Chittagong conference, he added.

BSEC executive director and spoke person Md Saifur Rahman was also present at the press conference.

Mr Alam and Mr Rahman answered various questions of journalists, seeking their cooperation to make the Dhaka and Chittagong conferences successful and aware the investors about safe investment in the capital market.

Mr Alam also read out the written statement where he noted that about 26,527 investors, including entrepreneurs, institutions and representatives of different organisations related to share market already took part in the financial literacy programme, which started in 2017.

Mr Mahbubul laid emphasis on educating general investors, students and young generations on essence of money in human life, savings, benefits of safer institutional investments and reducing risks of investments.

The participants would gather knowledge on different types of investments, related risks and proper medium for investments, probable profits and losses, investment capacity, methods of risk management, ways of taking decision for investments, method of picking up invested money from stock markets and other related issues during the conference.

Investors education programme is an important part of the BSEC. It is conducted by the Financial Literacy Department of the commission to create awareness of investors about investment analysis, financial planning, risks and returns associated with capital market and also to protect them through extending their knowledge and consciousness.
