BUET experts visit GPH extended steel plant

A delegation of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology visited the extended plant of GPH Ispat

CHATTOGRAM, Mar 2: A delegation of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology praised the GPH Ispat for its extended plant with the world's ultra modern technology of Quantum Ark Furnace Method.

The 25-member delegation of the BUET recently visited the new plant at Kumira of Chattogram and held a view exchange meeting with the management of the plant.

The team led by head of Chemical Engineering Department Professor Ijaj Hossain praised the company, one of the leading steel producers of the country for stepping into the highly sophisticated technology in steel production terming it as very challenging project of Bangladesh.

Managing Director of GPH Ispat Muhammed Jahangir Alam said they had invited the BUET experts in his project site for their valuable advice and recommendation. He said they were dreaming to set up such type of plant to encourage the brilliant youths in local enterprises instead of going abroad in search of fortune.

"We believe that our project will be attractive to the foreigners and countrymen," he said adding they will continue such view exchange meetings with the BUET experts in future also to enrich the plant.

Professor Ali Ahmed Shawgat Chowdhury, Professor Abdul Hasib Chowdhury, Professor Rakib Ahsan, Professor Prabhat Kumar Saha, Professor Ahmed Sharif, Professor Fahmida Gulshan and Professor Iftekhar Ahmed Khan addressed the meeting.

The experts advised the GPH Ispat to ensure maintenance, safety, environment and air separation plant monitoring. They also had discussions with Engineer Angel Butt of Austria's Primetals which is installing the technology.
