Epyllion Group wins Sedex Award 2019

Epyllion group, the country's one of the leading garments manufacturer and exporters received Sedex award 2019 for ensuring best health and safety/ labor program. Recently, in the Sedex conference held on Central London of United Kingdom. Director of the Epyllion group Md. Junaid Abu Salay Musa received the award on behalf of the company. The director said, Epyllion group has been ensuring sustainable business through creation of decent work place for their employees. It also emphasis on their health and safety, education of their family members and their rights and responsibilities. The Sedex conference is the UK's largest responsible sourcing conference. This year it saw over 700 business leaders, CEO's, practitioners and representatives in attendance. — Statement

ESC arranges dialogue

Economics Study Center organised the second episode of the ESC Dialogue on Wednesday on China's Belt and Road Initiative: Opportunities and Challenges for Bangladesh. The event was held at the R.C. Majumdar Auditorium in the Lecture Theatre Building in the University of Dhaka. The event started with a paper presentation on the topic by Mahtab Uddin, Lecturer, Department of Economics, University of Dhaka. In the beginning of his presentation, he mentioned the project initiated back in 2013. In 2014, Bangladesh signed 8 contracts with China, worth of 9.5 billion US dollars. There are five key aspects- the integration of macroeconomic policy, establishing connection, free trade, economic balance and people to people connection. Bangladesh's infrastructural aspects are not up to mark. It ranks 140th among 188 countries when it comes to infrastructural development. However, investment in this sector is increasing, with the most increase in the electricity production. — Statement
