Olympic tops turnover chart

Ten top-traded companies accounted for more than 32 per cent of transactions on the country's major bourse on Monday.

Olympic Industries topped the list.

Market insiders said, despite the market went through a correction phase, a section of investors took position on Olympic Industries shares amid optimism.

According to statistics available with the DSE, about 828,058 shares of Olympic Industries were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 215 million, which was 6.13 per cent of the Dhaka bourse's total transactions.

The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 3.51 billion, which was 8.59 per cent lower than the previous day's turnover of Tk 3.84 billion.

The Olympic's share price traded between Tk 255.50 and Tk 265, before closing at Tk 263, advancing 1.11 per cent from that of the previous session.

The company's share price hovered between Tk 245 and Tk 313 in the last one year.

The company's earnings per share (EPS) in the October-December quarter (Q2) 2017 stood at Tk 2.14 for the October-December, 2017 against Tk 2.11 for the same period a year ago.

Apart from Olympic Industries, the most other active shares in terms of value included IFAD Autos, Square Pharmaceuticals, Unique Hotel & Resorts, National Tubes, IBN Sina, LankaBangla Finance, CVO Petrochemicals, Brac Bank and Grameenphone.
