Singer leads DSE turnover chart

Most ten-traded cos snare 41 transaction

Most ten-traded firms grabbed nearly 41 per cent transaction on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) while Singer Bangladesh dominated the chart on Monday.

Market analysts said investors were active on Singer Bangladesh shares throughout the day after record date. The company has recommended 30 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2018.

Singer Bangladesh's 57 per cent shares changed news also impacted on its share trading as it was the first trading session after the news.

Turkey-based Arcelik, a home appliance manufacturing group, is set to acquire 57 per cent stake of Singer Bangladesh from Netherlands-based Retail Holdings group for U$75 million.

The company has also reported consolidated earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 11.96, consolidated net asset value (NAV) per share of Tk 30.13 and consolidated net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) of negative Tk 6.06 for the year ended on December 31, 2018 as against Tk 9.79, Tk 28.17 and Tk 3.12 respectively for the same period of the previous year.

According to statistics from the DSE, about 2.44 million shares of Singer Bangladesh were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 468 million, which was 12.13 per cent of the prime bourse's total turnover.

The Singer Bangladesh, which was listed on the DSE in 1983, disbursed 100 per cent cash dividend the year ended on December 31, 2017.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 766.94 million and authorised capital is also Tk 1.0 billion, while the total number of securities is 76.69 million.

The sponsor-directors own 57 per cent stake in company, while the institutional investors 15.45 per cent, foreign investors 7.30 per cent and the general public 20.25 per cent as on February 28, 2019, the DSE data shows.

Grameenphone (GP) followed next, with shares worth Tk 232 million changing hands. The largest market cap company's share closed at Tk 409.50, advancing 2.01 per cent over the previous day.

United Power clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 218 million changing hands. The company's share price inched up by 0.07 per cent to close at Tk 399.20 each.

BATBC emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 196 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 4601.10, shedding 0.55 per cent over the previous day.

Monno Ceramic Industries notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 99 million changing hands. The company's share price rose 2.05 per cent to close at Tk 337.40 each.

The turnover of Brac Bank was Tk 95 million. The bank's share price advanced 2.77 per cent to close at Tk 77.90 each.

JMI Syringes featured a turnover of Tk 71 million. The company's share closed at Tk 352.30 each, gaining 0.93 per cent.

The turnover of Legacy Footwear was Tk 68 million. The company's share closed at Tk 141 each, losing 2.82 per cent over the previous day.
