Ten top-traded companies accounted for more than 24 per cent transactions on the country's premier bourse Tuesday. LankaBangla Finance topped the list.
According to the statistics available with the DSE, about 4.86 million shares of LankaBangla were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 196 million. It was 3.89 per cent of the day's total turnover value.
The non-bank financial institution's share price hovered between Tk 39.80 and Tk 41.60 on Tuesday, before closing at Tk 40.10 each, losing 3.14 per cent over the previous day.
The board of directors of the company held a meeting on the day to consider, among others, audited financial statements of the company for the year ended on December 31, 2017. The meeting sources said the board of directors has recommended 7.50 per cent cash and 7.50 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2017.
In 2016, the company disbursed 15 per cent cash and 15 per cent stock dividend.
LankaBangla Finance, which was listed on the Dhaka bourse in 2006, also paid 15 per cent cash and 15 per cent stocks dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2015.
The company's paid-up capital is Tk 4.77 billion and authorised capital is Tk 10 billion, while the total number of securities is 477.37 million.
The sponsor-directors own 33.56 per cent stake in LankaBangla, while institutional investors own 23.95 per cent, foreign investors 4.23 per cent and the general public 38.26 per cent as on January 31, 2018, the DSE data shows.
Apart from LankaBangla Finance, the most other active shares in terms of value included Brac Bank, Anwar Galvanizing, Paramount Textile, Keya Cosmetics, Grameenphone, Alif Industries, Monno Ceramic Industries, Square Pharmaceuticals and National Tubes.
Brac Bank followed next with shares worth Tk 167 million changing hands. The bank's share price closed at Tk 98.50, advancing 2.17 per cent over the previous day.
Anwar Galvanizing clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 130 million changing hands. The company's share price advanced 3.31 per cent to close at Tk 84.20.
Paramount Textile emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 116 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 48.60, remaining unchanged over the previous session.
Keya Cosmetics saw its shares worth Tk 115 million change hands. The company's share price fell 5.04 per cent to close at Tk 10.70.
The turnover of Grameenphone (GP) was Tk 106 million. The largest market cap company's share closed at Tk 507.70, gaining 0.42 per cent.
Alif Industries featured a turnover of Tk 105 million. The company's share price rose 3.06 per cent to close at Tk 114.60.
The turnover of Monno Ceramic was Tk 102 million. The company's share price soared 4.41 per cent to settle at Tk 127.80.
Square Pharmaceuticals featured a turnover of Tk 92 million. The company's share price fell 0.31 per cent to close at Tk 326.40.
National Tubes was among the top ten turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 84 million changing hands. The state-run company's share price fell 1.22 per cent to close at 136.90.
