The Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) will be celebrating the completion of 25 years of its journey this year.
The announcement was made at the 50th meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the CPD recently, says a press release.
Other special events to be undertaken in 2018 include 7th South Asian Regional Meeting of the Think Tank Initiative, Annual Lecture, a day-long programme on Bangladesh's LDC Graduation: Marking the Achievements, and a national youth conference.
The trustees of CPD recommended strengthening outreach efforts of the organisation, emphasising research quality and capacity building and diversifying the portfolio of communication activities to meet emerging challenges in the policy environment.
The trustees also lauded CPD's performance at the national, regional and global levels between August and December 2017.
The board approved CPD's annual accounts for 2017 and the budget for 2018 and endorsed the annual plan for research, dialogues and publications of the organisation, which will involve undertaking various research and outreach activities at the domestic as well as global levels.
Concurrent issues to be dealt with include the analysis of macroeconomic performance, inclusive growth and employment, apparel sector restructuring, Southern Voice Report on State of SDGs and enhancing participation of CBOs and CSOs in democratic governance in Bangladesh.
Presided over by Professor Rehman Sobhan, Chairman, CPD, the board meeting was attended by CPD Trustees Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, Chairperson, BRAC; M Syeduzzaman, Former Finance Minister; Advocate Sultana Kamal, Human Rights Activist; Rasheda K Choudhury, Executive Director, CAMPE; Dr Syed Manzoorul Islam, Professor of English Department, Dhaka University; Dr Shahdeen Malik, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh; Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, Distinguished Fellow, CPD; and Dr Fahmida Khatun, Executive Director, CPD and Member Secretary of the CPD BoT.
