APICTA Awards ceremony ends

The 17th edition of Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards, which is called the Oscar of Asia Pacific of ICT, concluded in Dhaka on Sunday.

Hong Kong became the top winner with four awards, followed by Sri Lanka with three.

Bangladesh won one award out of the 17 champion categories and 14 merit awards out of the 49. As many as 166 Bangladeshi took part in the competition with 47 projects. Thailand and China won two awards in champion category.

Department of ICT of the ICT Division and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) jointly organised the event held from December 07-10.

APICTA is working for the ICT sector development in Asia-Pacific region. This year 17 champions in 17 categories were awarded.

The award giving ceremony was held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city. Finance Minister AMA Muhith handed over the awards to the winners. State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak was present as the special guest.

About the event, senior vice president of BASIS and convenor of 17th APICTA Awards Dhaka 2017 Russell T Ahmed said this is the first experience for Bangladesh ICT sector to organise such an event with 400 guests from 14 countries.
