CPA observes Port Day

Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) on Thursday observed the Port Day marking the 132nd founding anniversary of the country's premier seaport, Chittagong port.

In observance of the day, the CPA has taken elaborate programmes including hoisting of the national and CPA flags at Port Bhaban, discussions, view-exchange and a colourful cultural function, reports BSS.

On the occasion, the CPA also accorded reception to its retired employees.

CPA Chairman Commodore Julfiqur Aziz said the pioneer sea port of the country will be turned into a smart port by 2021 amid implementation of a number of development projects in phases.

He said this while talking to journalists after participating in a function at Bandar Republican Club in the morning.

The CPA chairman said the authority has taken short, medium and long term strategic master plans to turn the sea port into a user friendly one in line with present government's vision-2021.

CPA member admin Jafar Alam, finance Kamrul Amin, Harbor master captain Shaful Bari, Captain Khondokher Akter Hossain, port secretary Omar Faruk and high officials of different government offices in Chattagram, port users, business leaders, among others, attended function.
