‘Ease tender process to foster project implementation’

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury has called for avoiding lingering of tender process of

development projects for quicker implementation of the projects, reports BSS.

"Tender process should be bidders-friendly in the greater national interest," he told a meeting of Annual Development Programme (ADP) at the conference room of the ministry in the city, according to a press release.

Shipping Secretary Md Abdus Samad and chiefs of different public agencies were present, among others.

The meeting was informed that the Ministry of Shipping is implementing 49 projects involving over Tk 47.13 billion (Tk 4,713.3 crore) in the fiscal 2019-20. Among the projects, 40 projects were included in the ADP, while nine are being implemented with the ministry's own finance.

Two successful project managers of the previous fiscal were awarded at the meeting. Khalid presented crests to them.

The successful managers are - Rafiq Ahmed Siddique of the Establishment of Four Marine Academies in Pabna, Barisal, Sylhet and Rangpur Project and Md Yusuf Hossain of Six Ships Collection Project of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC)
