FBCCI to explore potential for exporting agro-products in Africa

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) decided on Saturday to visit Africa aiming to explore the potential for exporting agro-products and investment in the sector there, official said.

"We (FBCCI leaders) will visit African countries soon to find out the potentials of agro-products export and contract farming in agriculture sector there," an influential director of the FBCCI told the FF after the apex trade body's standing committee meeting relating with ministry of foreign affairs at its board room/ office.

He said that investment in agriculture sector through contract farming in African countries has a good prospect and profitability.

He said that the FBCCI leaders are keen to lease out lands and invest in agriculture in the countries including Uganda and Ethiopia.

Besides, the country's businessmen will have a good opportunity to export the readymade garments, pharmaceuticals, jute and jute goods, cement, plastic goods and ceramic products to the potential African market.

Chairman of the Standing Committee Abul Hossain presented the detailed future plan of the committee.

He is currently performing as honorary consul of Uganda in Bangladesh and working actively to develop trade relation between Bangladesh and the African Nations.

Former director in charge of the committee Amin Helali and the members from different sectors took part in the discussion.
