Fourth Samson H Chowdhury Memorial Conference Saturday

The fourth Samson H Chowdhury Memorial Conference will be held in the city on Saturday next to demonstrate the local pharmaceutical industry and discuss current issues, including potentials and challenges.

Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd will organise the day-long conference at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon also to pay tribute to Mr. Chowdhury for his contribution to the nation.

"Mr. Chowdhury played a pivotal role in the development and modernisation of the pharmaceutical sector of the country. He always acknowledged the importance of research and knowledge," Assistant General Manager (Regulatory Affairs) at Square Pharmaceuticals Ahmed Kamrul Alam said.

He was speaking at a press conference to make the formal announcement of the event at the auditorium of the Square Hospitals in the city.

To commemorate his vision, Square organises a day-long conference on Bangladesh pharmaceutical industry and current issues biennially, Mr. Alam said, adding that the first one was held in January 2013.

There will be three plenary sessions on significance of adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting and current readiness of Bangladesh pharma industry, opportunities for collaboration between industry and universities/research centres for pharmaceutical development and Bangladesh pharma industry-prospects and challenges at the event on Saturday next.

In a special segment, three young scientists will be conferred with 'Samson H Chowdhury Award' for their research and contribution in pharmaceuticals field, organisers said.

Around 450 participants like policymakers, government officials, industrialists, scientists, academics and business professionals are expected to attend the conference.
