FE Report | August 27, 2019 00:00:00

Three international expositions on garment and textile sector will be held in the city from September 04 to 07.

CEMS-Global, a conference and exhibition management services company, will host the event at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital, according to an announcement at a press conference in the city's Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) on Monday.

The expositions are the 20th Textech Bangladesh International Expo 2019, 16th Dhaka International Yarn & Fabric Show 2019-Summer Edition, and 38th Dye+Chem Bangladesh 2019 International Expo.

The organisers said the event is considered to be the biggest 360° supplier hub of the textile and apparel manufacturing industry in Bangladesh.

Visitors will find the biggest display of international yarn, fabrics, trims, accessories, chemical, dyes, machinery and other related products and services, they added.

Meherun N. Islam, President and Group Managing Director, CEMS Global USA and Asia Pacific, announced the event details.

More than 1,300 companies from countries like China, India, Germany, UK, USA, Taiwan, Japan, Turkey, Italy and Sri Lanka will exhibit their products and services from 1,500 booths, showcasing the latest developments.

The country's textile and apparel export industry now stands at US$ 32 billion and is now aggressively focusing on increasing its apparel exports to $ 50 billion by the year 2021.

The textile sector has been a key part of Bangladesh's economy over the past few decades, the organisers said.

The textile sector is now facing a growing demand for chemicals. It is primarily estimated that local textile industry consumes about 1.48 million metric tonnes of chemicals per year. It is speculated that about 70 percent of the chemical demand is met by imports.

The expos will remain open for all visitors from 10.30 am to 7.30 pm on the event days.
