Jewellers jack up gold prices, again

Local jewellers have increased gold prices again within two weeks on all categories of gold, effective from today (Wednesday).

With the fresh hike, a bhori of gold (22 carat) ornament will stand at Tk 50,738.4, while 21 carat at Tk 48,405.6, 18 carat Tk 43,156.8 and traditional bullion at Tk 26,535.6 on the local market.

The price of silver remains unchanged, the Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BJS) said Tuesday in a statement.

The prices of gold rose last time on December 25.

The trade group said it had increased the gold price to keep congruence with the upward trend on the international market.

Earlier, the price of each bhori (11.664g) of 22 carat gold was Tk 49,338.72, whereas 21 carat Tk 47,122.56, 18 carat Tk 41,873.76 and traditional gold Tk 25,660.8.
