Leather estate in Rajshahi soon

The government will set up a leather industrial estate in Rajshahi soon.

The decision was taken at a meeting between Chairman of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) Md Mustaq Hasan and Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton at BSCIC in the capital on Monday, officials said.

High government officials, including BSCIC director (Planning and Development) Abdul Manna, were present at the meeting.

The BSCIC chairman assured the RCC Mayor of providing all necessary support to build the estate within a short time in accordance with the prime minister's recent announcement.

The proposed leather industrial estate would create a huge employment in Rajshahi, the RCC Mayor told the meeting.

He also mentioned that such an initiative would open huge opportunities of leather and leather goods business in Rajshahi.

Earlier on Monday, the RCC Mayor had a meeting in this regard with Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun at the latter's residence.
