Green Delta Ins reelects chair, vice-chair
The Board of Directors of Green Delta Insurance Company Limited has recently reelected Md Abdul Karim as its chairman and Kamran Idris Chowdhury as vice-chairman. Md Abdul Karim, former principal secretary to the government, is the Managing Director of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF). Earlier, he served as the secretary in the ministries of commerce, fisheries and livestock, home affairs, communications (Bridges Division) and finance (Internal Resources Division). Kamran Idris Chowdhury is a fellow member (FCA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB). He worked for Touche Ross in London (presently Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu), prior to returning to Bangladesh in 1988 and joining A Qasem & Co. Chartered Accountants, the member firm of Ernst and Young International in Bangladesh. — Statement
Canada inflation rises to 2.3pc
OTTAWA, Apr 20: Canadians paid 2.3 per cent more for goods and services in March than a year earlier, in the largest year-over-year increase since October 2014, according to official data released Friday. Inflation, however, was lower than analysts expected, following a 2.2 per cent increase in prices in February. Statistics Canada said only clothes and footwear prices declined in March, while all other components of its consumer price index increased. Gasoline prices rose for a second month, up 17.1 per cent year over year.— AFP
