Shipping ministry forms 'Working Group'

The shipping ministry has formed a five-member 'Working Group' to prepare plan for implementation of its programmes as envisaged in the election manifesto of the government. The group will create an 'Action Plan' to implement the plans embarked by the shipping ministry, an official release said on Wednesday. Delta Plan 2100, SDG implementation strategy 2030, government-sponsored plan, 7th Five-Year Plan, Annual Performance Agreement (APA) and large projects for infrastructure development (Mega Project) related documents will be reviewed before preparing the 'Action Plan'. — BSS

BAFFA appoints executive secretary

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 02: Former Member (Admin and Planning) of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) Hadi Hossain Babul has joined the Bangladesh Freight Forwarders Association (BAFFA) Chattogram Secretariat as the executive secretary. He served the CPA for a long time and performed responsibilities in different important posts in the sea port and retired as Member (Admin and Planning) few years back, a statement said. Mr. Hadi is a freedom fighter and was a student leader in the University of Chittagong during the 1970s. He is the first Bangladeshi port executive who was conferred honourary citizenship of the USA in 1997.

FBCCI Foundation distributes warm clothes

The FBCCI Foundation distributed warm clothes among the cold-hit people in the capital on Wednesday. The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Md. Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin along with senior Vice President Sheikh Fazle Fahim distributed the clothes. The FBCCI president said that the foundation is working for the affected people of natural calamities round the year. After its establishment in 2008, the foundation has been working for the wellbeing of the common people as well as the micro entrepreneurs. It has a plan to offer language course for the workers going abroad as well as to provide vocational and handicrafts training, and course for the unemployed youths. Among others, FBCCI Director and Managing Director of FBCCI Foundation Md. Habib Ullah Dawn, FBCCI Directors Khandaker Ruhul Amin, Md. Kohinoor Islam and Rashadul Hossain Chowdhury (Ronni) took part in the distribution activities. — FE Report
