Thrust on acquiring knowledge about VAT, income tax

Speakers at a programme in the capital on Saturday said entrepreneurs and business people should have clear idea about value added tax (VAT), income tax and other tax rules to run their business successfully.

Adequate knowledge about VAT and income tax helps business people run their business professionally, they said while addressing the concluding function of a two-day training course on 'Rules & Procedures of VAT & Income Tax'.

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Business Institute (DBI) organised the July 12-13 event on it's premises, says a statement.

Seventeen business professionals nominated by different renowned organisations participated in the course.

Senior Vice President of DCCI Waqar Ahmad Choudhury attended the closing programme and certificate awarding ceremony of the training course as the chief guest.

Group Chief Financial Officer of Rahimafrooz Bangladesh Limited Mohammad Zahid Hossain, FCA, was also present at the function.

Former Commissioner of Customs & VAT of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Md. Abdul Kafi and ACS, Income Tax Lawyer & Company Law Adviser, at Rahman Alam Shamsuddin and Associates Md. Hadisul Alam conducted the training as resource persons.

According to the participants' feedback, the two-day training course has broadened their mental horizon and made them conversant with important issues related to VAT and income tax.

Addressing the event, Waqar Ahmad VAT and Tax is a vital issue now-a-days.

He advised the participants to acquire proper knowledge about VAT and income tax for achieving long-term business success.

The speakers said one should have clear idea about VAT, income tax and other tax formalities to run his/her business properly and successfully.

Adequate knowledge about VAT and income tax helps a businessman to run his business professionally.

DCCI Acting Secretary and Executive Director of DBI Joynal Abdin who was also present at the event and spoke, gave inspirational speech for the trainees.

He offered the vote of thanks and advised the participants to practice and share their knowledge with the fellow colleagues.

He thanked the authorities of participating organisations for nominating officials at the DBI's training programme.

DBI Deputy Secretary Tamanna Sultana and other officials and experts were present, among others.
