NEW DELHI, May 15 (Xinhua): An Indian border guard belonging to Border Security Force (BSF) was killed Tuesday during an exchange of fire with Pakistani troops on International Border (IB) in Kashmir, officials said.

The exchange of small arms and artillery was reported near Mangu Chack border outpost along IB in Samba sector, about 53 km south of Jammu city, the winter capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

"Pakistani troops early today at around 1:30 a.m. violated cease-fire by resorting to firing and targeting BSF posts, which resulting in wounding a trooper," a police official said.

"Though the BSF trooper was immediately removed to hospital in wounded condition, however, he succumbed there."

Officials said Indian troops also retaliated to the firing and intermittent exchange lasted for around three hours.

So far there were no reports of damage to the Pakistani side in the skirmishes.
