Guatemala court blocks migration deal with US

GUATEMALA CITY, July 15: Guatemala's constitutional court late Sunday granted an injunction blocking President Jimmy Morales from signing a migration deal with the United States which would oblige it to offer asylum to migrants heading to the US border. Morales, who was under pressure at home not to seal the deal, earlier Sunday called off White House talks with Donald Trump with just a day to spare, his office announced. — AFP

Moscow continues to deliver S-400 parts to Ankara

ANKARA, July 15: The Turkish defense ministry says two more Russian cargo planes have landed at an airfield near the capital, Ankara, as Russia continues to deliver parts of its S-400 missile defense system to Turkey in defiance of U.S. objections. The ministry said on Twitter the two more planes arrived at Murted Air Base on Monday, bringing the Russian-made systems' components for the fourth day running. — AP

Spanish PM accuses far-left of ending talks to form govt

MADRID, July 15: Spain's acting Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on Monday that far-left party Podemos had ended talks on forming a new government, a week before he faces an investiture vote in parliament. Sanchez's Socialist party won 123 seats in early polls in April, the most by any party, but still fell far short of an absolute majority in the 350-seat assembly. — AFP

Bldg collapse kills 12 in India after monsoon rains

NEW DELHI, July 15: Eleven soldiers were among a dozen bodies recovered from the debris of a three-story building that collapsed after monsoon rains hit a hilly area of northern India, officials said on Monday. Rescuers were looking for two to three people still unaccounted after Sunday's collapse, said Gaurav Srivastav, an official from the National Disaster Response Force, or NDRF. — AP
