Koreas to verify removal of border guard posts next week

SEOUL, Dec 06: The two Koreas will exchange inspection teams across their heavily armed border next week to verify each other's works to remove some of their front-line guard posts, Seoul's Defence Ministry said on Thursday. In the past weeks, North and South Korea each have dismantled or disarmed 11 of their border guard posts. — AP

Russia's new laser weapon

systems enter into service

MOSCOW, Dec 06: Russia's new Peresvet laser weapon systems have been put on combat duty, the Defence Ministry's Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper reported on Wednesday. The systems are capable of "concealing the areas of deployment of intercontinental ballistic missiles" and will be used in air defense and military defense, a military expert was cited by the newspaper as saying.
