600 hectares of land come under garlic farming in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ, Feb 20: Garlic cultivation target has exceeded in the district this season.
The farmers are optimistic to get a good yield if the weather remains favourable till the first week of March.
DAE sources said garlic growers of the area get repeated bumper production every season.
According to the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), farmers have brought over 600 hectares of land under garlic cultivation though the target was 460 hectares.
The excellent growing of the plants is predicting a bumper production across the district, said sub-assistance agriculture officer of DAE Azizur Rahman.
In a recent visit this correspondent found that the farmers of Ullapara,Kazipur, Belkuchi, Tarash, Rayganj, Shahjadpur and Sirajganj Sadar were passing busy time in their garlic cropland.
Deputy director of DAE Md Arshad Ali said all sorts of initiative has been taken to make the cultivation programme a success.
