70 posts of pry school teachers lie vacant in Mohadevpur

NAOGAON, Oct 23: A total of 42 posts of headmaster and 28 posts of assistant teacher in 42 government primary schools under Mohadevpur Upazila of the district have been lying vacant for a long time seriously hampering educational activities.

Sources at Upazila Primary Education Office said there are 132 government primary schools in the upazila. Of them, 42 schools are running without headmasters and the required number of assistant teachers. After retirement and death of the teachers in these schools, no appointments were made against the vacant posts, the sources added.

Zulfikar Rahman, father of a class III student of Cheragpur Primary School in the upazila, said he wants to shift his son to another school as there is no educational environment left due to acute teacher shortage.

Upazila primary education officer Ataur Rahman said, due to absence of headmasters education is seriously being hampered which is a great concern for the guardians of the students.
