RAJSHAHI, Sept 11: While the admission test of first year honours courses under the academic session 2018-19 is knocking at the door, students of most of the residential halls of the Rajshahi University (RU) have been suffering from acute water scarcity for the last several days.

Particularly, students of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall are facing such acute water crisis in the last week long as the water pump of that hall went out of order, sources said.

Student Jahidul Islam of that hall said, "We are facing serious problem here. Authority should take immediate step."

Another resident Sourav Chowdhury said water is available for only one hour a day. It is a great suffering.

The hall authority has not taken any action to solve the problem. The officials repeatedly tell the same thing to students.

Besides, residents of female halls are also suffering from water crisis during the month long.

RU chief engineer Sirajum Munir said such situation has been created as a few water supply pipes have exploded beside the university central auditorium.

Action will be taken immediately, he added.
