Agro-incentive to be distributed among 83,200 farmers in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR, June 17 (BSS): The government has started distribution of seeds and chemical fertilisers among 83,200 small and marginal farmers in 13 upazilas of the district during the Aman season.

Deputy Director (DD) of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Md. Afzal Hossain today said the department has started distribution of high-yielding improved paddy seeds and fertiliser among small and marginal farmers in 104 unions of 13 upazilas of the district.

A list of 800 small and marginal farmers has been prepared in each of the 104 unions of the upazilas, he added.

According to the list prepared, 416 metric tons of Aman paddy seeds of improved variety, developed by the Department of Agriculture, will be distributed among a total of 83,200 farmers.

Each of the farmers will get five kilograms (Kgs) of seed, along with 10-kg of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) and 10-kg of Muriate of Potassium (MOP) chemical fertilisers.

The interim government has taken steps to distribute high-yielding Aman paddy seeds and fertiliser among small and marginal farmers to increase the yield of paddy in the country, the DD said.

Hakimpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Amit Roy inaugurated the seed and chemical fertiliser distribution programme at the upazila premises distributing the incentives among 2,400 farmers in its three unions.
