Roving Correspondent | November 10, 2017 00:00:00

NAOGAON, Nov 09: Biochar organic fertiliser is gaining popularity at Manda upazila of the district.

According to Christian Commission Development in Bangladesh (CCDB) official sources, farmers of the district have shown more interest to use the organic fertiliser on their croplands to reduce production cost and get a good yield within a short period of time.

Biochar fertiliser boosts production of turmeric, sesame, banana, potato, paddy and other Rabi crops, said farmer Shahidul Islam of Chalksamra village of Kusumba union under Manda upazila. He further said if farmers use the fertiliser on their lands they do not need to use more chemical fertilisers.

Meanwhile, the fertiliser is appreciated by the authorities of Bangladesh Agriculture University and Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. They also suggested the farmers to use the fertiliser round the year.
