BKB disburses Tk 299m agri loans among Narsingdi farmers

NARSINGDI Jan 9 (BSS): Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) in the region disbursed Tk 29, 89, 90,000 as agricultural loans among 2,557 farmers of the district during the first six months of the current fiscal year.
Bank officials today said BKB earmarked to disburse loan of Tk 845.6 million among the farmers in the district during the current fiscal. The sum of loan disbursement by the Bank through 21 branches in the district stands at 25 per cent till December 31, 2017.
Meanwhile BKB Narsingdi branch realized Tk 28,03,32,000 from 3073 defaulters during the same period against the target of realizing of outstanding loans was fixed 845.6 million. The percentage of loan recovery in the district stands at 34 percent till December 31 last.
Deputy General Manager of BKB, Narsingdi, Mahatub Ali Rashidi told the news agency that BKB is a specialised bank that has been playing a vital role in our nation building activities by empowering farmers.
He said BKB generally disburses agricultural loans for crop cultivation, pisciculture, livestock sector, setting of poultry farm, purchasing of agriculture equipments, small trading, marketing of agricultural products and socio-economic development activities.
